Prime Video has now launched the web series ‘Indian Police Force’ directed by Rohit Shetty, known for his masala entertainers. Starring Siddharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty and Mayank Tandon. Let’s see how it is.

story:

A series of blasts takes place in the national capital and it sends shock waves through the Delhi Police. Kabir Malik (Sidharth Malhotra) and Vikram Bakshi (Vivek Oberoi), who are part of the special task force of the Delhi Police, are responsible for killing the terrorists responsible for the blasts. Gujarat ATS chief Tara Shetty (Shilpa Shetty) helps Kabir and Vikram Bakshi solve the case. With Tara’s help, Kabir and Vikram approach Haider, aka Zarar (Mayank Taandon), who is behind the serial blasts. The rest of the show shows the battle between the cops and the terrorists.

Plus points:

If you are a person who loves to watch action movies, Indian Police Force will impress you a lot. All the action scenes and chase sequences in the show are well thought out and they look great on screen. Special care has been taken with the action blocks and hence they do not look routine. Also, the way they get cinematographers Girish Kant and Raza Mehta is impressive. Hand-to-hand combat in particular is great.

The series doesn’t have much opportunity to showcase his skills as an actor, but Sidharth Malhotra delivers what is needed. He was quite good in the action part. However, the show stealer is Mayank Taandon. He was a threat as a terrorist and played his part to a tee. Also, his character is nicely presented and the cat-and-mouse game with the cops is broken in parts. In addition to the action blocks, our attention is drawn to the places where the series is filmed.

Minus points:

For anyone who is used to watching Rohit Shetty material, Indian Police Force will be a harmless watch. Rohit Shetty’s narration is straightforward, without twists, and the series is pointless. If you’re expecting solid characterization and a well-researched plot, you’ll be disappointed, because there’s nothing new here. There are logical fallacies and silly scenes in Indian Police.

Web shows are generally known for their in-depth narrative style, and filmmakers use this format to convey what they couldn’t do in feature films. But the Indian police force is more like a movie and less like a web series. Rohit Shetty uses his typical commercial elements to further the proceedings. Shilpa Shetty and Vivek Oberoi don’t get enough screen time so they hardly make any impact. Isha Talwar gets wasted in a cameo. The VFX work is pathetic for a show of this scale.

Technical aspects:

The music composed by Lijo George-DJ and Chetas is simply good. The background score should have been much better. Cinematographers Girish Kant and Raza Mehta have done an impressive job. Capturing all the action blocks gives a great experience to the audience. The editing is crisp and the pacing is brisk for the most part. The production values are amazing, but enough care should have been taken with the VFX work.

Along with Rohit Shetty, Sushwant Prakash also directed this action series. As mentioned earlier, Rohit Shetty and his team deliver material that has its pros and cons. Although the action blocks are great, the director should have concentrated more on the plot and logic part.

Verdict:

Overall, Indian Police Force is a masala entertainer that appeals more to action lovers. The series has impressive action blocks and they look very realistic. Siddharth Malhotra and Mayank Taandon have done a very good job. The cat-and-mouse game between the cops and the antagonist works to some extent. Rohit Shetty delivers a typical action drama with a formulaic narrative and if one is expecting some cheesy content, they might be disappointed. So, if your expectations are set right, the Indian Police Force will become a passing watch.
