Netflix Announces Terminator: The Anime Series, Shares Teaser

As part of its Geeked Week announcements, Netflix has revealed that the anime series The Terminator franchise will soon debut on the platform. Matheson Tomlin will take over as executive producer and writer for the show called Terminator: The Anime Series.

The creators of the upcoming show Terminator: The Anime series have released an official teaser for the show.

Here’s the official synopsis: “2022: A future war has raged for decades between a few surviving humans and an endless army of machines. 1997: An AI known as Skynet gains self-awareness and begins a war against humanity. Caught between the future and the past. This is a soldier sent back in time to change the fate of humanity. He arrives in 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee, who is working to start a new artificial intelligence system designed to compete with Skynet’s impending attack on humanity. With the complexities of his creation, he is hunted by a relentless killer from the future who forever changing the destinies of her three children,” according to Variety.

The terminator The franchise now consists of six films, a television series, novels, comics and video games, but this is the first animated feature.

The series began with James Cameron’s 1984 low-budget film terminator which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as a cyborg sent back in time to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton), a woman about to give birth to a leader who will save humanity from a robot uprising, according to Variety .
