CHARLOTTE — The city of Charlotte has been hit by three deadly shootings in less than 48 hours.
The first incident occurred Friday night, when an employee shot and killed a co-worker at a Wendy’s off W.T. Harris Boulevard. A woman was later killed in a shooting on the outskirts of Park Crossing Drive in south Charlotte. Hours later, just a few miles away, a man was killed in a shooting on Baltimore Avenue.
One of the murders has been solved, but two others remain unsolved, leaving detectives wondering whether the man shot to death at a South Side home was the intended target.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers swarmed the area near Baltimore Avenue where Maurice Moore, 30, was shot and killed. Doctors took him to the hospital where he died from his injuries early Sunday morning.
Veteran Channel 9 crime reporter Glenn Counts spoke to a friend of the victim, who asked to remain anonymous. They had just met the Sunday before the shooting, and Earl shared the shock of losing Moore.
“It’s really, really heartbreaking. I just spoke to this young man last Sunday, so it’s just sad,” the friend said.
The friend said Moore was a kind and caring man who was an innocent victim caught in the crossfire.
“He was a beautiful man who cared about everyone and was trying to help everyone, and he was just an innocent bystander sitting outside on his porch and a shooting happened,” the friend said. told.
Two people, a man and a woman, were shot and killed inside a car on Park Crossing Drive Saturday evening. The man survived, but the woman died from her injuries at a hospital.
Police continue to search for suspects but have not released a motive for the shooting.
The most incomprehensible of the three was the murder that occurred at a North Charlotte Wendy’s on Friday night. The victim was identified as Jay Carly Anderson, a 19-year-old high school graduate. The suspect was 21-year-old Christopher Franks.

The two were co-workers, and several members of Anderson’s family, who also work at the Wendy’s, were at the restaurant when the shooting occurred. The family said there was no conflict between Mr. Anderson and Mr. Franks.
The victim’s aunt said Franks became enraged after being given the job and tried to pull out a gun. Multiple workers were able to restrain him until he calmed down. When they freed Franks, he began brandishing a gun and fled the restaurant as his employees scattered. But Anderson tried to escape through the back door and collapsed, where he was shot and killed by Franks.
“It really has to stop. What can we do?” the victim’s friend told Counts.
Police have not confirmed the family’s account of the incident, but they are grieving as they begin preparations for the funeral of a young man who lost his life too soon.
