Diljit Dosanjh says he didn’t like the style of Sikh characters in Hindi films

Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh is one of the most popular Punjabi artists across the world, and over the years, his style has started to garner as much attention as his music.

Diljit said that although he has always understood fashion, he did not like the past styles of Sikh actors in Bollywood.

In a conversation with Anubhav Bassi on Netflix India during the promotions of the film ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’, Diljit spoke about what inspired him to focus on his fashion game.

“To be honest, I don’t like clothes or swag. When we were in Punjab, what were the Bollywood movies that were made back then? They didn’t show Sikhs properly. I have decided that when I act in a Bollywood movie, I try to dress better than the stylists in Bollywood. I know fashion,” Diljit shared.

The ‘Has Has’ singer said that Punjabi street fashion follows all international styles and is very global.

“The fashion that is popular in New York comes directly to Punjabi because there is a connection. So I always thought that if I go to Bollywood, I will show them that they portray people incorrectly. . We are not,” Diljit said.

The actor also emphasized that buying expensive clothes and buying trendy clothes are not the same. He claimed that when he’s at home, he lounges in shorts, but when he has to dress up, he makes sure to dress properly.

Diljit is starring in the lead role in Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Amar Singh Chamkira’. The film, which depicts the life of a Punjabi singer who was shot dead at the age of 27, also stars Parineeti Chopra, and will be released on Netflix on April 12.
