Actor Vivek Oberoi’s former business partner and event company owner Sanjay Saha has been arrested for allegedly defrauding the actor of Rs 1.55 billion. Two additional defendants are wanted in the case.

Following a complaint filed by Oberoi’s representatives, the MIDC police in Mumbai in July arrested Saha, her mother Nandita and Radhika under sections 406 (breach of trust) and 409 (public servant, banker, trader, agent). According to police, in 2020, when Oberoi and his wife Priyanka were planning to shut down their company Oberoi Organic LLP, the actor met Sanjay Saha, who was involved in event planning and film production.

Oberoi partnered with Saha in 2020 for event planning business in the film industry.

According to the police complaint, as per mutual understanding and agreement, the name of Oberoi Organic LLP was changed to Anandita Entertainment LLP to organize events and produce films in the film industry.

Saha and his mother’s names were also added as partners in Anandita Entertainment LLP.

Saha’s acquaintance Radhika’s name was added as a partner in the firm, while the actor’s wife Priyanka was forced to resign. According to the police, the actor left his position as one of the partners in Anandita Entertainment LLP after six months and transferred his own shares (33.33%) and position to his own company, Oberoi Mega Entertainment LLP. announced that it had been replaced.

Till November 2021, the actor has invested Rs 95.72 crore in Anandita Entertainment LLP. In February 2021, Saha and Oberoi decided to produce the film ‘Ghanshe’ and signed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who was paid Rs 5.1 million by Oberoi for the film.

A director and screenwriter were also hired and paid. According to the police complaint, Oberoi and Saha were in talks with Zee5 OTT platform to air the film.

In early 2022, while checking investment details, Oberoi realized that Saha was misusing funds. When the actor spoke to the company’s manager, she also corroborated the same.

According to the FIR, Saha, Nandita and Radhika used company funds for personal expenses such as paying insurance premiums, buying jewellery, and withdrawing salaries. It has been learned that he is suspected of misusing Rs 58.56 million worth, the FIR said.
