The series explores the cultural intricacies of Heramand, an opulent neighborhood, unfolding the tales of courtesans and their patrons against the tumultuous backdrop of India’s freedom struggle in the 1940s. In an interview, Sanjay Leela Bhansali told Pinkvilla, “I do big films and that’s natural for me. But when I came to OTT, I did something bigger, it’s my biggest project yet. So I didn’t have to adapt to digital. Medium, it It’s like watching a movie.”
“So there’s no holding back or doing anything different for OTT. I’ve done 8 episodes for it and it’s so demanding, I’m constantly working on the script. In a recent statement, the makers described the show as “a mix of love, betrayal, legacy and politics in a kota (house of courtesans). They said: “Heramand engages audiences in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s signature style, offering larger narratives, intricately crafted and soulful characters and the complex dynamics of a world mired in conflict at a pivotal time in Indian history.
