EXCLUSIVE: Thai heartthrob Bright wants to play Ranveer Singh’s Rocky Randhawa | web series

“I have no reason to turn down a Bollywood film, it would be a great opportunity,” says Thai heartthrob Bright Wachirawit Chiwaar. Her co-star Bella Rennie Kampen echoes the same: “I want to be a part of the Bollywood industry and I want to work with all the amazing people.”

Thai heartthrob Bright Wachirawit Chiwaar.

If you’re wondering why two of Thailand’s most popular actors have expressed interest in Bollywood, it’s thanks to their latest project, Congratulations, My Ex!

The Indo-Thai production tells the story of Riza (Bella), a bankrupt wedding planner who organizes an Indian wedding in Thailand to save her business. To her horror, the groom is her ex-boyfriend Arun (Mahir Pandey). Things get even more awkward when she needs her photographer ex Tim (Bright) to get her out of a sticky situation. What follows is a roller coaster ride of many mishaps in love.

Speaking exclusively to Hindustan Times via Zoom call from Bangkok, Vachiravit Chivaar, better known by his screen name Bright, admits that getting the dance right in the film was a challenge for him as he is not a great dancer. “It was the opportunity of a lifetime. Amazing cast, impressive Bollywood and Indian colors were very exciting. Also, my character Tim is very complex and it was difficult to play the ex. I had to hold back emotions of love and hate and feelings that I haven’t experienced in real life, so it was a great opportunity,” she says with her famous smile.

Rani Kampen better known as Bella, who is one of the most in-demand Thai actresses known for her hit shows like Love Destiny, says that when she heard about the grandeur of Indian weddings, she experienced it first hand on set.

“I got to experience the extravaganza and all the vibes. The beauty of Indian culture is breathtaking. However, navigating my movements in the long heavy skirt was a bit difficult. It was very beautiful and the experience was amazing. Also, I got the opportunity to be a part of this international production and loved my part in the film. It was an instant yes,” Bella says.

The two actors share screen space with their Indian counterparts Mahir Pandey (Choti Sardarni) and Anahita Bhoshan (Bal Veer Returns). Calling the film a collaboration between two cultures as it bridges Thailand and India, Mahir says, “It was such a thrill to see Bella and Bright in Indian attire, we can’t wait to share the behind-the-scenes footage with everyone.”

However, Anahita feels that Bright and Bella would be the perfect pair to star in Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor’s Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani remake. Apparently, Bright was impressed with Ranveer Singh’s portrayal of the eternally romantic Rocky from Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.

“This character seems like fun,” the actor said as Mahir and Bella playfully teased him, “Yeah, Bright loves money, he’d be perfect.”

Bright has been on fire since his breakout role in 2020’s 2gether: The Series, followed by the Thai adaptation of the popular Japanese manga, F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers. The 25-year-old is one of the most in-demand faces, not only in Thailand, but his popularity quotient is also rising globally. With 19 million followers on Instagram, the singer-actress says she is driven by her fans and their expectations of her.

“It drives me and influences me, because I don’t work for myself, but for my fans, who motivate me to work and contribute a lot to produce great work.”

What roles and genres are he interested in in the future? “Something so fun, unfussy, and makes me lose track of time.” Any type of genre that makes me feel like I need to watch it.”

Congratulations, my ex! Premieres on Premier Video November 16th.
