Swastika Mukherjee has no time to rest. After wrapping up Tekka with Sreejith Mukherjee and Dev, the actor returned to work. According to sources, Swastika has teamed up with Sayanthan Ghosal for the web series Hoichoi. Dubbed as a drama, the serial Bijoya also stars Shaheb Chattopadhyay and Bidipta Chakraborty. Here’s a rundown of what we know about the series.

Swastika Mukherjee who will play the mother of the depraved victim

According to a source close to the project, Bijoya is modeled around the infamous incident at Jadavpur University that shook the country. Swastika plays the character of the mother of a young boy who came to study in a small town at a big university. After a terrible incident, the boy becomes clinically unconscious. He tells his family that he tried to kill himself, but his mother found out the truth. Shaheb plays the antagonist – a powerful personality who influences the case. This is a new series that was not part of Hoichoi’s announcement last year.

The shocking incident of Jadavpur University

In August 2023, a 17-year-old student of Jadavpur University died in the main hostel after allegedly succumbing to a ruthless robbery. A group of students and former students were arrested by the police and the case is still ongoing. Initially, it was said that the victim killed himself by jumping from the balcony. It was later revealed that there may have been an accident or a deliberate attempt by alleged guards to throw him off the balcony. He was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries. This incident shocked the nation. The security system of Jadavpur University has come under the radar.

Sayanthan, known for his thrillers, has addressed the incident, sources said. Screenwriting duo Rohit and Souma have penned the screenplay. If all goes well, the streak could close in late May or early June.
