There’s a lot going on in the show Sugar on Apple TV+. Once again we have a show where the name is metaphorical and literal. This is exactly the name of the hero, John Sugar. Sugar also suggests sweetness, and our central character in California brazenly and charismatically states that it can be both good and bad, depending on the eyes of the beholder. The circumstances of his life are the complete opposite of his family, but it also gives the show a chance to sneak in some slick action and flashy stunts. And Colin Farrell plays this private investigator with a ball.

It could be a theft, a murder, a disappearance, which mostly prompts a detective or investigator to put on his thinking cap and solve the mystery. Here is the third one. Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel’s granddaughter, Olivia, has gone missing, and Sugar is the man tasked with finding out what happened and how. And no doubt, it will lead to the discovery of many secrets in the family.

Style meets suspension

Sugar Combines style with suspense. There are swifts cuts and pacy editing accompanied by a beefed-up background score that only elevates the proceedings. A central performance followed by reaction shots of people around and around (and perhaps against) it can be the (spicy and juicy) cherry on the (exciting) cake. And the ensemble does a great job of hiding its motives, at least so far.

Fascinating and fulfilling

Sugar
It has all the elements that you have seen before in series and movies of this nature. There are the usual and unusual suspects, there are monsters trying to get in the way of a man or woman, who will never let the truth come out, and it all comes with one cliffhanger after another. But given how the stories revolve around the tension between lost and found, Sugar They keep you tied to your chairs, or maybe in this case couches and beds.

What next and in sugar?

The hunt for Olivia continues. There are masked faces to stop him from getting what he wants. The series has thrown a ball, and for all those who are satisfied with the mystery, Sugar Could be the spiciest choice they could make this week.
