Shooting in Kutch

Anjum recalled how one day he fell ill while shooting in the hot climate of Kutch. “Most days were like that. It’s an action show and there are so many different setups. We shot the action scenes in 46 degree heat in Kutch. There wasn’t even a tree to take shelter from. I We were shooting bullets and exploding bombs all day long, and we were filming in leather jackets. On the first day, after a few hours of filming, I was bright red. By night, I was feeling a little sick. The next day I felt better, but I soon noticed that my body was getting used to the heat.”

Shooting inside a running train

Anjum spoke about the huge scale of the work: I went to Punjab and took this photo on a train that was running properly. Tahir and I go somewhere for work and we talk on the train. That conversation could have taken place in a truck, car, dhaba or bike, but since this is Milan Luthria, it will take place in a train. I remember realizing the scale of the show when he told me about that scene in voiceover. Immediately after the scene, I told him that this was my Katche Dage (1999 Milano film starring Ajay Devgn and Saif Ali Khan) moment. That movie had a big influence on me, and he loves trains. He just laughed and said, “Yeah.” That scene was difficult to shoot. This photo was taken near the terminal station in Punjab. I could see the other side of the border on Google Maps. ”

About working with Mouni Roy

Asked about the equation he shared with Mouni Roy, Anjum said that when they tried to shoot a song together, they didn’t know how things should go. “I knew she was a dancer, so I had to be there too. She didn’t have to dance, but it was a choreographed performance. The rehearsals lasted several days. It looked very intense. So we continued shooting for 3-4 days. Initially, I was wondering how I will perform next to Muni on that huge set. Every day, hundreds of thousands of rupees are spent on you. I did.”

He further added, “So Tahir and I shot some difficult and emotional scenes. When she joined the cast, she brought her own talent. She’s a very sweet person. The first time we shot a romantic, emotional scene together, I was nervous and thought, “I’m spending time with that character and getting into that character,” but she just… We had just arrived. She wanted to make sure she was comfortable too. But she was professional and handled everything with grace. It was a humbling experience for me. She didn’t hesitate to ask for suggestions, for example if she felt there was a performance-oriented scene. She also did not hesitate to share her own suggestions regarding dance, which is her own expertise. ”

Anjum also said, “I expected her to bring her experience and all her baggage, but she’s so humble. We hit it off so well from day one. She was so patient and supportive. . It was a very comfortable, mutual, warm kind of equation that we ended up developing.”

Anjum’s Preparation for Delhi Sultanate

Regarding the physique required for the show, Anjum recalled that it was clear that a chiseled body was not required, but that it had to be similar to Dharmendra’s physique in the 1960s. “My character is from the criminal world so I had to look tough, but if you look at Dharmendra or the stars of that era, they were more bulky. They weren’t skinny and had a sharp jawline. I didn’t have that. I needed a stocky build and a chubby face.” He adds that unlike the character in Mirzapur, the Sultan of Delhi is not supposed to analyze much.

mirzapur 3

Asked about the third part of his popular show, Anjum said, “Mirzapur 3? All I can say is, it won’t be this year, it will probably be early next year. Post-production and dubbing have all been completed.”
