Titans fans won’t have to wait long for the next chapter of Legendary’s MonsterVerse to hit our screens. Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is set to premiere on his Apple TV+ on November 17th.

The film is the second original TV series set in the MonsterVerse, following Netflix’s Skull Island, which was last released in theaters in 2021 with Godzilla vs. Kong. It will also be released ahead of the release of “Godzilla x Kong: New Empire” next spring.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is a three-generation film that follows Godzilla’s first appearance in San Francisco and a family uncovering their ties to the mysterious organization known as Monarch. Masu. The film stars Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russell, and co-stars Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watanabe, and Anna Sawai. The film promises to shed light on Monarch’s early days, which audiences know relatively little about aside from the graphic novel Godzilla: Awakening (2014).

10. Lee Shaw

The main character in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is Lee Shaw, played by Kurt Russell and his son Wyatt Russell in two different eras. The name Shaw may be unfamiliar to many, but it has real meaning in Monarch history.

In Godzilla: Awakening (2014), Shaw (referred to only by his last name) is the sole survivor of a Titan attack on an American ship in 1946 and is rescued by Eiji Serizawa, Ishiro Serizawa’s father.

Shaw then enlists Eiji to join the U.S.-Japan joint military force, which officially establishes Monarch. Eiji and Shaw then spent time responding to reports of Titan attacks across the Pacific, before Monarch officially acknowledged Godzilla’s existence in 1954 after receiving unmistakable sightings.

Early efforts to identify, track down, and then kill the King of the Monsters were alluded to in Godzilla (2014), particularly in the opening credits sequence, but not in Monarch: Legacy of the Monsters.
