The Wolves defeated the Dallas Mavericks in the first two preseason games that were part of the 2023 NBA Abu Dhabi Games. In Minnesota’s first win over Dallas, Karl-Anthony Towns led the Timberwolves with 20 points and four rebounds. Towns then teamed with Anthony Edwards and scored a total of 27 points in the University of Minnesota’s second win over Dallas in Abu Dhabi.
The Knicks finished last season as the No. 5 seed in the East, losing 4-2 to the Miami Heat in the second round of the NBA Playoffs. New York defeated the Boston Celtics 114-107 on Monday in the first preseason game of the season. Immanuel Quickley scored 21 points off the bench to lead the Knicks over the Celtics.
