Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrated Uptown – WSOC TV

[ad_1]

CHARLOTTE — The streets of Uptown were alive with international festivities Saturday to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month.

The Ola Charlotte Festival brought renowned international artists and local talent to Tryon Street while event attendees danced salsa and merengue.

Event attendees watched performances in between trying new foods and experiencing different Hispanic cultures, all tied into the flag parade.

Charlotte residents spoke to Channel 9 about the impact this type of event has on the Queen City.

“This is really important because it brings in a lot of people, not just from Charlotte but from other states as well,” Jose Benettis said. “With the growth of social media, there is more attention on the city and everyone is exploring more of Charlotte.”

Organizers said the event’s main purpose is to give a voice to organizations that serve the Hispanic community and bring positivity to Charlotte.
