The correct order to watch Children of the Corn movies

[ad_1]

Children of the Corn began as a very good short story written by horror titan Stephen King early in his career. Originally published in his 1977 and included in his 1978 book Night Shift, this book is probably the first that most of his horror fans read. Seven years later, his film adaptation was released in theaters in 1984. Probably the best in the series. It also starred Linda Hamilton, whose “The Terminator” released in the same year turned her into a genre film icon. That being said, this is a very bad movie and no matter what itch you have, there are far better 80’s slasher movies and 80’s Stephen King adaptations.

But if you’re going to watch all of these movies as some sort of horror movie Everest-like challenge (which you do because you have to!), it’s best to watch them in release order. Because, yes, there is continuity here, and yes, by the late ’90s, sequels were trying to deepen paper-thin premises and assuming we knew at least a little about what had happened before. . Useful reference information:

  • Children of the Corn (1984)
  • Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice (1993)
  • Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest (1995)
  • Children of the Corn IV: The Gathering (1996)
  • Children of the Corn V: Field of Terror (1998)
  • Children of the Corn 666: The Return of Isaac (199)
  • Children of the Corn: Apocalypse (2001)
  • Children of the Corn: Genesis: (2011)
  • Children of the Corn: Runaways (2018)

That’s the core series, and it’s a series loosely designed to be watched in order. For additional homework, completionists will want to seek out 2009’s “Children of the Corn” and 2020’s “Children of the Corn.” Both are either remakes of the first film or new adaptations of the original Stephen King stories. Which poison do you choose? Like all the other movies on the list above, both movies are terrible. You can sprinkle them into your rotation if you like.
