History of World Space Week

The World Space Week Association (WSWA) traces its roots back to 1980 when it began organizing Space Week, a celebration commemorating the first moon landing held from July 16 to 24 each year. In 1981, we established the Space Week National Headquarters to expand this celebration across the United States.

The first worldwide celebration was held in 2000.
