When Ranbir Kapoor said he was not ‘interested’ in Hollywood films
Ranbir Kapoor, known for his versatile acting and impressive performances, is undoubtedly one of the best actors in Bollywood. Since there is a lot of cross-pollination happening in the entertainment industry, especially among celebrities, Ranbir Kapoor once spoke about his possible venture into Hollywood.
In an old video, Ranbir Kapoor unequivocally dismissed any immediate plans to pursue a career in Hollywood. In an earlier conversation at director Anupam Kher’s Actor Prep programme, Ranbir Kapoor expressed his satisfaction in contributing to Indian cinema. When asked about his Hollywood aspirations, he replied: “Mujhe Hollywood mein abhi interest nahi hai kyuki ek to main yaha apna naambanane ki koshish kar raha hoon. I want to contribute to Indian cinema.” He also stressed the importance of representing one’s culture and personalities on a global platform, “I believe that if you really want to make a name around the world, you have to do it with your culture and personalities.”
Ranbir highlighted the success of films such as “Crouching Tiger”, stressing the importance of cultural proximity in achieving global recognition. “Ang Lee didn’t go make a film with Hollywood stars to make it in Hollywood. I think I’m very happy with the way Indian cinema is shaping up. I’m very happy with the new talent coming in and the opportunities we’re all getting as actors,” he said. The actor went on to add that the windows are open to everyone, he said. If there is a good opportunity, he would like to do it. But for now, he is not interested. “I am very happy with Hindi films.”
