If we’re honest with ourselves, not much has really changed in Jason Statham’s career over the past 20 years. He’s the guy who has audiences paying money to see people punch and kick for nearly two hours. While Statham doesn’t have any new tricks in his bag, his work has remained consistent over the past several years.

Like it or not, Statham is one of the few action stars we have left in Hollywood, having had a collection of good films such as Anger and man – A film that proves that as long as Statham is still punching people in the face, audiences are willing to watch it; As long as he stays out of the franchise, that is.

This time he rejoins Kurt Wimmer and David Ayer beekeeper — A film produced by Miramax and distributed by MGM Amazon.

In this film, Statham plays Adam Clay, a former agent of a secret organization known as the Beekeepers. When his friend Eloise Parker, played by Phylicia Rashad, commits suicide after being caught up in a massive fraud, Clay seeks revenge on the company responsible.

Even after burning said company to the ground, he’s not satisfied – Clay is determined to make sure the people involved in this scam never scam anyone else again.

The only way to make sure that doesn’t happen is to have the man financing the operation from the top: Derek Danforth, who plays him hunger Games Starring Josh Hutcherson, Danforth becomes Clay’s ultimate target, as he is the one pulling the strings of the entire scam. As long as Statham remains at his best, the film has a very difficult time disappointing its audience.

The plot is definitely nothing new that we haven’t seen before. The setup here is that Statham’s character plays an agent from a secret government organization who takes care of difficult problems that the government doesn’t want on its books.

beekeeper It’s a film that cuts all the fat and gets straight to the heart of the story – establishing the relationship Adam has with Eloise properly and doing a great job of giving the audience a legitimate reason to hate the villains; A group of rich scammers who shamelessly target the weakest, poorest and oldest among us all.

Because the villains are so evil, every punch Statham lands in the film has a satisfying and almost therapeutic reaction for this audience. But the biggest knock on this movie is the supporting cast.

As the film’s villain, Hutcherson plays a strange mix between Logan Paul and Hunter Biden; They’re both completely unlikable and trashy as characters. However, other stars do not live up to their expectations.

Jeremy Irons appears in the film as the former CIA father figure to Hutcherson’s character. With the exception of a few scenes, Irons did not have any major presence in the film. The movie makes it seem like his character was intended for a bigger role but never showed up.

Emmy Raver-Lampman plays an FBI agent in the film. However, you’re not really buying her into the role she’s supposed to play; In some scenes, it feels like the movie is coming to a screeching halt every time she appears. Gemma Redgrave then played the President of the United States although there was a clear British accent in the film. Minnie Driver appears in the film in a few shots that she may have taken during her lunch break, and the list goes on.

in the end of the day, beekeeper Live and die with Jason Statham. Fortunately, he’s a good enough guy to hide a lot of the flaws in the story. However, this is definitely not a bad movie. Most viewers will just be looking for a great action movie that they can enjoy, and there is certainly enough good things in this movie to be enjoyable.

When all is said and done, beekeeper It’s a fun movie and a great way to start 2024.
