Selena Gomez to Star in Linda Ronstadt Biopic – The Hollywood Reporter

Selena Gomez is attached to star Linda Ronstadt in a biopic about the singer-songwriter.
Gomez is set to play the 11-time Grammy Award winner in a film that producers James Keach is working on.Walk the line) and Ronstadt’s director John Boylan. A director and additional cast members have yet to be announced for the project, and it doesn’t appear that a distributor is on board at the moment.
Ronstadt’s official Facebook and Instagram accounts posted a news story about the film on Wednesday, adding the message, “It all started with a simple dream.” Ronstadt and Gomez, both of Mexican descent, had previously met at the former’s home to discuss the project, according to a note on the website of Boylan’s label, Great Eastern Music.
Gomez first teased the film on Tuesday by sharing a photo of Ronstadt’s 2013 memoir, Simple dreamsto her Instagram stories. Simple dreams It is also the name of Ronstadt’s 1977 album which was certified triple platinum.

Ronstadt, 77, is known for a decades-long music career that includes 24 studio albums and the No. 1 hit “You’re No Good.” She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2014 and was honored with the 2019 Kennedy Center Honors for her lifetime achievement.
She was diagnosed with progressive supranuclear palsy, a degenerative disease that prompted her to retire from singing.
Gomez, who has been nominated twice for a Grammy Award, is known for her success in music and acting. She currently stars in the Hulu series Murders only in the buildingand earned her ninth top 10 entry on the Billboard Hot 100 with her contribution to last year’s remix of Rema’s song “Calm Down.”
