Marvel actress Gwyneth Paltrow says Hollywood can only make so many good superhero movies — GeekTyrant

The superhero movie genre is going through some growing pains right now with studios, filmmakers, and fans. Many recently released comic book movies have been disappointing at the box office and have been difficult to watch due to their lack of quality.

Gwyneth Paltrow She’s spent a lot of time in the MCU as Pepper Potts, and recently shared her thoughts on the genre and believes Hollywood can only make so many good superhero films.

When she was a guest on YouTube talk show The Hot Ones, Paltrow was asked to comment on her recent Oscars speech Cord JeffersonWho won the award for Best Adapted Screenplay for his work in American fiction. I wrote an article highlighting his speech which you can read here. He said:

“It’s a call to acknowledge and acknowledge that there are a lot of people who want the opportunity that I had. I realize this is a risk-averse industry, and I understand that, but $200 million movies are a risk too, and it doesn’t always work out. But you take a risk anyway Instead of producing one film worth $200 million, try making ten films worth $20 million, or 50 films worth four million dollars!

In response to his speech, Paltrow said:

“I totally understand where he’s coming from. You want to have the best chance of getting a strong return on investment. People invest a lot of money in these things and they want them to be profitable. But I think if you look at the industry as an industry in general, this big push toward Superhero movies… You can only make so many good movies that feel really original, and yet they’re still always trying to reach as many people as possible, which sometimes gets in the way of quality, specificity, or real point of view.”

Many fans will agree with these comments, and both Marvel and DC are currently making big changes in an attempt to start making great movies and get fans excited about watching these types of movies again. Paltrow went on to explain her reasons, adding:

“I grew up doing these (mid-budget) films and sometimes I feel bad because I look back at some of the films I made in the ’90s and think that wouldn’t get made now. You get more artistic diversity when there’s less vulnerability and people can, kind of , express their true voice and make a movie the way they want. I think those are generally the ones that resonate the most.”

I would love for Hollywood to go back to that place. While there’s always room for big poll films, I think studios should start focusing more on mid-budget films that tell great stories! Some studios are doing this, but we need more of them to really make an impact.

What are your thoughts on the current state of Hollywood and what did Paltrow have to say about superhero movies?
