Leonardo DiCaprio has a new project. Fans are in for a good time as acclaimed director Paul Thomas Anderson has announced his next untitled project with Leonardo, alongside Regina Hall and Sean Penn, according to a report by Deadline. Leonardo DiCaprio will lead Paul Thomas Anderson’s next film.

Paul Thomas Anderson, whose latest project was the Oscar-nominated Licorice Pizza, wrote the screenplay for the film and will also produce it with Sarah Murphy and Adam Sumner. The report also stated that it is the most modern location for Paul Thomas Anderson’s project, as well as the most commercial. The film, apart from starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Regina Hall and Sean Penn in lead roles, is in the process of finalizing its supporting cast.

Paul Thomas Anderson is considered one of the best directors working today, having directed many acclaimed films in the past, from Boogie Nights to Phantom Thread, The Master to Magnolia. His most recent project was the 2021 release Licorice Pizza, set in 1970s Los Angeles and starring newcomers Alana Haim and Cooper Hoffman. The film received three Academy Award nominations – including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay.

Meanwhile, this marks the first collaboration between Leonardo DiCaprio and Paul Thomas Anderson, who were previously set to work on Boogie Nights. That changed when Leonardo optioned James Cameron’s Titanic and the role eventually went to Mark Wahlberg. However, Sean Penn starred in Licorice Pizza in 2021 in a supporting role.

Leonardo was most recently seen in the film Killers of the Flower Moon, directed by Martin Scorsese. The actor received great critical acclaim for his role, and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award, in the category of Best Actor in a Leading Role (Drama). He lost to Cillian Murphy to Oppenheimer.
