Chris Evans talks about his wedding to Alba Baptista and returning to Broadway – The Hollywood Reporter

Chris Evans has opened up about his marriage to actress Alba Baptista last month and their married life since then.

The actor publicly acknowledged the news for the first time on stage at New York Comic Con on Saturday, saying, “I got married. It was really, really great.”

Evans added that the couple had two wedding ceremonies. “The first one was on the East Coast. I also did it in Portugal. My wife is Portuguese.”

He also explained how stressful the wedding planning process can be, saying, “For people who are married, it’s a lot of effort.”

However, Evans said the couple is now “getting over it and enjoying life while preparing for the fall.” It’s the best time of the year. Right now I’m just relaxing, enjoying life, and reflecting. ”

During Saturday’s 30-minute panel discussion, Evans talked about his rescue dog Dodger and his work in animal advocacy, but also discussed whether he would consider returning to Broadway. The actor admitted he is “thinking a lot” about his return to the stage, and said he is exploring the possibility of a stage play, but “hasn’t quite found it yet.”

“It has to be something that you’re really passionate about, so I’m looking. I’d really like to find something next year that I’m passionate about and that I think would be cool. “It’s hard to find stuff, but like I said, once you get into it, you’re good with it,” he said. “For plays, usually he takes three, four or five months. It’s not just something he likes, but something he’s prepared to explore from different angles every night for a very long time. I have to.”

Evans said he started out in high school theater like many actors and did “a lot of Shakespeare” with another prominent Hollywood actor.

“I was in high school and Jeremy was strong – I don’t know if anyone knows that – but we did a lot of Shakespeare shows together when we were both teenagers.” said Evans. “With Jeremy Strong, I was just trying to keep up.”

As for whether Evans would step into the music space, he said he’s “not a good enough singer” to try it on stage, but he would consider it for a movie. “You could make a musical movie because you could do it in a studio and polish it until it was right,” he said. “Stand there and do it every day, eight times a week? I don’t have a pipe. I wish I had done that.”
