Siddharth Malhotra’s Arun Katiyal proudly leads a special task force called Yoda, whose first commander was his father. At the same time, his better half Raashi Khanna, who is also the Secretary of State, can no longer keep up with his wild adventures and is upset by the setbacks in his personal life.

A few years later, another Indian plane is hijacked. The twist? Suspicion grows as Arun is the flight commander on board and all clues are pointing towards him. The passengers as well as the security forces believe that Arun is taking revenge for Yoda’s suspension.

A seemingly too-smart passenger, with the help of stewardess Disha Patani, attempts to bring Arun down to save the plane. From this point on, the plot continues to keep you on your toes with one unbelievable twist after another.

Yoda Movie Review: Criticism

Aside from a somewhat mundane beginning, Yoda is a genre-defining film. Indian cinema has certainly produced some great action thrillers, but Yoda is in a league of its own with its quirky story and breakneck pace, not to mention its heart-pounding cliffhanger. Directors Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha have the conviction to make this unconventional script work, and you can’t help but glee at the over-the-top climax.

But some may have wanted to know more about the bond they share with the other members of Task Force Yoda. Perhaps the racy script didn’t leave room for that.

Yoda Movie Review: Performance

Siddharth Malhotra is hitting a completely different form in this one. He has changed from a gentle sweetheart boy to a gentle, if a bit cocky, leading man who gives orders like his boss. He excels in seamless action scenes, which are a big highlight of the movie. Sid has always had a magnetic presence, but in Yoda he dominates the screen.

Raashi Khanna gives a great performance as the Secretary of State who finds herself in a difficult situation when her husband’s military credibility is questioned. The relationship dynamic adds an emotional layer to the film, which Raashi captures perfectly.

Disha Patani literally packs a punch in this short but impactful role. Looking stunning as ever, she will catch you off guard with her aerial antics.

Yoda Movie Review: Director

Outsiders can bring a fresh perspective and give viewers a whole new experience. That’s exactly what director Sagar Ambre (also the screenwriter) and Pushkar Ojha did with Yoda. Best of all is the precise execution of a thrilling yet empty script.

Credit where credit is due – Karan Johar gives the dynamic duo brownie points for identifying their storytelling talent and giving them enough scale and freedom to just express themselves. Worth it.

Yoda Movie Review: Final Verdict

‘Grabbing’ is the perfect word to describe the film starring Siddharth Malhotra, Rashi Khanna and Disha Patani. It’s the kind of movie that you won’t be able to take your eyes off the screen for even a moment. Sophisticated, ruthless, and action-packed, Yoda is a must-see!
