Tripti Dimri’s brutally honest interview about animals, her crush, Ranbir Kapoor, and intimate scenes

how does it feel to be enthusiasm of indian people right now? The response to my performance as Zoya in Animal has been very refreshing.

I’m very excited about the response. It’s beyond my expectations. People’s unexpected love makes me so happy and grateful.

When did you realize your character was connecting with your audience?

I think it was the second day of release. When people started talking about it and talking about the vulnerability of the character. At that moment, I felt that the audience was able to touch Zoya’s heartstrings. That’s what I wanted from the first day I started playing on screen. I was hoping that viewers would be able to understand what this person was going through. Obviously I didn’t have high expectations because of the limited screen time, but I’m glad they’re working with Zoya.

intimate scene with you ranbir kapoor How did you prepare for this sequence?

I won’t say it as an actor, but the rape scene I did in Bulbul was more challenging for me as a person than the scene in Animal. As a person, that scene was much more challenging. Because you’re just giving up. And giving up is harder than finding the courage to do something. If you can get past that, this scene in Animal is nothing compared to it. And on the day I sign a project, I believe that it is my job and responsibility as an actor to portray the character I am playing 100% correctly. You have to be completely honest about it. To make sure that’s the case, directors need to give us what they want on screen and portray it with the utmost honesty. That’s my goal.

As with the movie, this scene also had its detractors…

To be honest, this scene has received a lot of criticism and I’m someone who rarely faces criticism, so I was nervous at first. I was also surprised. But then I sat and thought. No one forced me to become an actor. I thought it was interesting so I wanted to try it. And once I started doing that, the character I played started healing a part of me. And I started to enjoy the process. I began to find joy in the challenges and everything that was to come. And that’s how I want to act in life, no matter what happens. As long as I’m comfortable and the people around me on set are making me comfortable. And as long as I know what I’m doing is right, I’m not doing anything wrong, so I’m going to do it. Because that’s what I want as an actor and as a person.

How do you look back on the experience of filming that scene?

There were literally four people on set that day. Ranbir, Sandeep sir and DOP were also there. There is no one who is not needed or who is not there. They asked me “Are you okay?” every 5 minutes. Is there anything you want? OK? Is it comfortable? I mean, you don’t feel weird at all when the people around you are giving you a lot of support and making sure you’re comfortable.

It is said that ranbir Kapoor is your crush. What was it like working with him?

My first love was Shah Rukh Khan. 2nd place goes to Ranbir. He is beautiful not only as an actor but also as a human being. Many people say that it is better not to meet your idol. I’m glad that I was able to meet my favorite idol because I have even more respect for him now. Because until now I knew him as an actor. And I respected the integrity that he displayed in his character. However, I was very nervous when working with him. And he could see that I was nervous. He sensed it. And he did everything he could to make me comfortable.
I was very nervous when filming the confession scene in the movie. I just couldn’t remember my lines. And usually I’m very good at lines. However, I couldn’t remember my lines that day. And no one made me feel awkward. No one made me feel like they were rushing to finish a scene or that their lines were messed up. Everyone was like, okay, it’s your scene. In fact, Ranbir was so nice that he said, “This is your scene.” How would you like to do it? Do you want to take a close-up shot of me first? Want to take some close-up shots first? He was kind enough to ask me that. And I think that’s what makes him a very special person. He is very humble and very dedicated as a co-star. I think that’s what makes him a beautiful person.

Another scene of yours that made everyone furious was when Ranbir asked you to lick his shoes and you fell on your knees. Do you have a moral sense for the character you play?

I don’t lick anyone’s boots. But that’s the character I’m playing. This is something I learned earlier in my acting class. We need to understand that we are all human. And there is good, bad, and ugly in each of us. That’s why I consider myself lucky to be an actor and to be able to explore all my emotions, the good, the bad, and the ugliest in one life. What is depicted in a movie does not mean that what the person is doing on screen is correct or that those watching the movie should start acting that way. Perhaps this is what the character is doing in certain situations. It’s not who you are. It’s just the ugly side of the character. that’s it.
