Shaitan box office collection Day 3: Ajay’s film becomes a blockbuster, collecting Rs 5,350 crore in first weekend

Shaitaan, starring Ajay Devgn, Jyothika and R Madhavan, was released in theaters on March 8th. The film got off to a strong start at the box office, with box office receipts surging on the third day, exceeding the box office receipts of the previous two days. Shaitan on Sunday recorded a net recovery of 20 billion rupees for India, according to industry tracker Saknilk.

Shaitan continues his dream performance at the theater

Ajay Devgn starrer Shaitan earned Rs 200 crore on Sunday, taking the total domestic collection to Rs 53.50 crore. Shaitan recorded 36.24 per cent occupancy across Hindi cinemas on Sunday. Pune had the highest number of Hindi occupiers for the film, followed by Bengaluru. Meanwhile, Shaitan earned Rs 14.75 billion on the first day and Rs 18.75 billion on the second day, registering a 27.12 per cent jump.

For those who don’t know, Shaitan is a Hindi remake of the 2024 Gujarati horror-thriller film Vash. The film was written and directed by Krishnadev Yagnik. Shaitan revolves around the concept of black magic. Along with Shaitaan, the Telugu version of Premal was released in theaters. Shaitan also faced stiff competition from Ghami and Bhima in the southern Indian region.

Will Shaitan be able to maintain its dominance in theaters?

Shaitan is expected to maintain its dominance in theaters till March 15, when it will face stiff competition from Siddharth Malhotra and Disha Patani’s Yoda. Ajay Devgn’s previous film ‘Bholaa’ (starring Tabu) earned Rs 1.10 crore on the first day, taking the overall box office collection to Rs 90 crore. Before Bholaa, Ajay’s Drishyam 2 was a huge success at the box office. Shaitaan matched the opening day box office collection of his Drishyam 2 but fell slightly short on the second day, earning Rs 2,159 crore.
