Fans have been eagerly awaiting the OTT release of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s blockbuster family crime drama Animal. That’s because not only do they want to relive the theatrical experience, but they also want to see the “extended cut” of the film that the director promised. However, viewers were left disappointed as the Netflix Indian version did not offer anything more. When Animal hit the OTT platform on Friday, fans were immediately disappointed when they watched the Netflix India runtime. The running time is 3 hours and 24 minutes, the same as the theatrical version.

Secondly, viewers were further disappointed after watching the climactic showdown on the runway between the protagonist Ranvijay, played by Ranbir Kapoor, and the antagonist Abrar, played by Bobby Deol. That’s because there was no “kissing” between the two actors, as director Sandeep had promised after the film was released in theaters.

In an interview with Galatta Plus, Sandeep said, “Yes, there was actually a kiss. Bobby kissed Ranbir, I mean a kiss on the cheek, and said, “Bye, I don’t want to spend a day with my father.” They’ll say, ‘I haven’t done it.'” He goes back and unzips it. It looked great during the shoot, but I felt like the kiss diluted the zipper. The reason I took it off was because Mr. Bobby had this grin on his face, and tears fell onto his chest. “It felt like a bigger cinematic high than just getting close and kissing.” And he promised that the kiss would be included in an extended cut on Netflix India.

Reaction to the missing “extended cut”

Several users on X (formerly Twitter) expressed disappointment at the lack of extended cuts. One person wrote, “Animal extended cuts are a scam lol.” Original runtime was 3H23M. Netflix runtime is 3 hours and 24 minutes (eyeroll emoji). ” Another posted: “Where can I find the extended cut of Animal on Netflix?” The running time was supposed to be 3 hours and 44 minutes, right?”
