Murder Mubarak is a fun combination of comedy and mystery that pays homage to the classic whodunnit genre. Directed by Homi Adajania, the film boasts of an excellent cast whose performances take the story to new heights.

Located in the heart of the city, the Royal Delhi Club exudes an aura of exclusivity and sophistication reserved for the elite class. The club serves as a sanctuary for the city’s privileged few, a haven where sophistication and privilege are seamlessly intertwined. But one fateful night, the club’s calm atmosphere is shattered when a murder occurs among the glitzy crowd gathered for the prestigious event. ACP Bhawani Singh (Pankaj Tripathi), a veteran detective known for his sharp wit and unwavering dedication to justice, is tasked with unraveling the tangled web of deceit and intrigue surrounding the murder case. As ACP Singh navigates a labyrinth of lies and deceit, he uncovers jealousy, betrayal, and long-standing grudges smoldering beneath the surface of the club’s glamorous façade…

Pankaj Tripathi shines as ACP Bhawani Singh, a bumbling but surprisingly astute detective who captures the spirit of Agatha Christie’s iconic detective Hercule Poirot with impeccable flair. Tripathy’s portrayal brings a fun combination of humor and intelligence to the character, making her a joy to watch on screen. Sara Ali Khan gives her captivating performance as Bambi Todi, a character who embodies both fragility and strength in equal measure. Sarah brings depth and nuance to her role, drawing the audience into the intricate web of mystery before her. Vijay Varma does a great job as Aakash Dogra, a big-hearted lawyer with a moral compass that guides him through the twists and turns of the investigation. Vijay’s portrayal makes him a convincing presence amidst the chaos that unfolds around him in the film. Karisma Kapoor plays Shehnaz Noorani, an enigmatic film star who hides many secrets beneath her glamorous exterior. Charisma brings a sense of intrigue and complexity to her characters, keeping her viewers guessing until the end. Sanjay Kapoor gives an outstanding performance as Maharaja Rannvijay Singh, a run-down aristocrat with a troubled past. His portrayals are imbued with a sense of melancholy and vulnerability. Dimple Kapadia plays the eccentric sculptor Cookie Katok, who adds even more eccentricity to the Mubarak murder case. Her eccentricity provides both comic relief and valuable insight into the case at hand. Her performance is a testament to her versatility as an actor. Additionally, Brijendra Kala makes an impression in her brief role as a simpleton who knows too many secrets, adding to the rich tapestry of characters in the film.Tisca Chopra was also impressive as her distraught mother.

The cinematography by Linesh Desai is commendable and captures the essence of the story. The background music complements the story perfectly, increasing the tension and suspense as the mystery is revealed. But the script, adapted from Anuja Chauhan’s book Club You To Death, struggles to maintain coherence amidst its complex developments, and at times feels a little disorganized. This movie would have been better with a 20 minute trim. Nevertheless, great performances by the entire ensemble cast lift the film and ensure that The Mubarak Murders remains a gripping and entertaining film from start to finish.

The fact that Pankaj Tripathi is getting the top salary ahead of Sara Ali Khan and Vijay Varma shows how progressive Bollywood is these days. Watch this movie to see great performances by the actors and the entire cast.
