Masaan (2015)

‘Masaan’, which revolves around the story of four people living in the city of Banaras, stars Vicky Kaushal and Richa Chadha. Unlike mainstream Bollywood movies, this movie revolves around people’s daily lives and their struggles living in a city where people are not very accepting. They try their best to survive and make way for a better life in the future, even as they struggle with common caste and gender issues.

Bulbul (2020)

Bulbbul, starring Tripti Dimri and produced by Anushka Sharma, is a folklore story set in British India in the late 1800s. This Netflix original movie tells the story of a child bride named Bulbbul who is married to a man decades older but is wealthy at heart. After a potential romance blossomed with her brother-in-law, who was as young as her, she became a victim of abuse by her husband and their twins. This hurts her soul, but also gives her patience.

Tamasha (2015)

Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone worked together in Imtiaz Ali’s film ‘Tamasha’. This is the story of Ved, an ordinary person who meets Tara in Corsica, where he pretends to have made up his own story. After returning to India, their paths cross when they begin dating many years later, but something doesn’t feel right, and Ved’s journey of self-discovery begins.

Udaan (2010)

Rohan, who was expelled from a boarding school in Shimla and left alone at school, returns to his home in Jamshedpur. He has to stay with his strict father and half-brother, study engineering against his own choice, and work in his father’s factory. Watch how he fights demons and flies high.
