Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay movie review: Guru Randhawa and Saiee Manjrekar starrer marred by haphazard storytelling and convoluted plot

Anupam Kher shares the film Kuch Katta Ho Jai 1600Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay movie review: Guru Randhawa, Saiee Manjrekar play lead roles.

Somewhere, buried beneath the dominant loud chatter, haphazard storytelling, and complex storylines, there exists a heartbeat that encourages women to pursue their dreams and that men want to wholeheartedly support. There may be. But that heart is overshadowed by the hodgepodge way this story unfolds.

In case you haven’t guessed it yet from the title, the entire movie revolves around a young couple who give birth to a baby who is the owner of a hundred-year-old sweet shop. Anupam Kher I play a family patriarch who desperately wants Heer Chawla (Guru Randhawa) to get married and have a child as soon as possible. Heer He is crazy about Iraa Mishra (Saiee Manjrekar), his main goal in life is to become an IAS officer. However, Ira is pressured by her family to marry. Mr. Heer promises to help her even after her marriage and facilitate her exam preparation.

Once they get married, all the supporting characters can talk about is when Ira got pregnant. Her story becomes progressively more confusing and drawn out as Ira first pretends to be pregnant, then pretends to have lost her baby, and then she tries to get pregnant. Even though this logic-defying development is exhausting, why does he try to create a serious comedy instead of leaving the story littered with old tropes, clichés, and over-the-top emotional manipulation? People may wonder if it is difficult.

After spending most of its 125-minute running time building and maintaining family pressure regarding procreation, the film attempts to make some amends towards the end. It’s too little, too late. There are references to the family caring for each other selflessly and feeling that love is more important than having a baby. However, this movie makes the mistake of telling them instead of showing them. It also relies too much on satirical characters and stereotypes to get laughs.

The film could have been an effective vehicle to introduce actors and singers Randhawa and Manjrekar, had the writers given more depth to their characters and a deeper understanding of male alliances.
