I want to make a romantic Bollywood movie: Ankita Lokhande

New Delhi: Actor Ankita Lokhande says she would like to star in a modern-day Bollywood romance after Manikarnika and Swatantra Veer Savarkar.

Lokhande was last seen in Bigg Boss 17 and was awaiting the release of ‘Swantantra Veer Savarkar’ with Randeep Hooda. The movie was released today.

“Whatever characters I’m playing now, they’re powerful. But for me personally, I want to play something that’s more me – something that’s modern and more commercial. A Bollywood film where there is romance. That is my job and I want to make such films,” Lokhande said in an interview with PTI.

The actor said he agreed to play Yamuna Bai in the biopic without even reading the script.

“I always knew who Veer Savarkar was and playing the character of his wife was a no-no for me. But find out more about Yamuna Bai That made me even more fascinated.”

The actor admitted that Hooda did thorough research for the project.

“I have done some research. Randeep was already there and he researched a lot about each character. Thanks to him I got to know more about Yamuna Bai .”

Lokhande, 39, rose to fame with her role in the drama serial Pavitra Rishta, which also starred late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. She made her Bollywood debut with her Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi.

Hooda has also written and directed ‘Swantantra Veer Savarkar’.
