Film career doesn’t guarantee success: Farah Khan
Not everyone who dreams of a career in Bollywood is as blessed as they have to work hard to survive and not every actor with a background in the film industry is guaranteed success, says the film director. Producer and choreographer Farah Khan said while talking about the controversial issue. Nepotism has been in the spotlight for some time.
Farah Khan visited the city on Thursday and while wowing members of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Flow with her witty responses, she also gave a glimpse of her emotional side.
“Not all actors with a background in the film industry are so blessed. Star sons, these days known as ‘nepo kids’, may have an easier time breaking into the industry, but just because they come from a film background doesn’t mean they’ll be successful.” Not guaranteed. “Everyone needs to work hard to survive,” she said.
Although she herself came from a film background, she said that she did not have a privileged background.
“My father Kamran Khan was an actor and director. One Friday his film was released and by Sunday he lost all his money. We started out poor and remained in that situation for 13 years. It continued,” she said.
“I wanted to become a director and started my career as an assistant to director Mansoor Khan. During that time, I got the opportunity to choreograph the iconic song ‘pehla nasha’ and the rest is history. She won her first Filmfare Award for the song Dhol Bajne Laga featuring Anil Kapoor and Tabu from the film Virasat, but she wanted to become a director because she wanted to make a film for her father. ,” she added.
She said that even though she looks shiny on the outside, the film industry is tough and you need a thick skin and strong mental strength to survive here. The new generation in the industry cannot handle failure or criticism.
In addition to being a director, she said she loves being a housewife and has recently been cooking Italian food for shy children.
Farah also talked about some events that happened in her life. One was when he discovered a ghost in a hotel room in Scotland. She was so scared, she said, that she stayed with director Karan Johar in his room for the rest of the tour.
Responding to a question from a FICCI Flo member, Farah said that if she were to write an autobiography, the title would be ‘Painting, Abhi Baki Hai, Just Things’.
