Hum banayenge, humne jodi film banay hai, jiske humne rights nahi miles toh humne fiction banayenge (Bollywood to make Chamkira biopic When I found out they were making it, I thought, “How on earth would we make it?” We would make it. And that’s exactly what we did with the movie, Jody). I thought they wouldn’t be able to do it. So, when the pandemic hit, Jodi was not released, but then I got a call from Dr. Imtiaz Ali. I thought he was going to sue us. But he wanted to cast me in his movie. ”

He further added, “But when I heard his point of view, it was completely different. It was the story of Chamkila, a story that even I didn’t know very well. Amar Singh Chamkila wrote the song himself. So, the fact that such a big film will be made in Chamkila was a great pride for me and my people. I just surrendered to the vision.”

The film tells the untold true story of Amar Singh Chamkira, Punjab’s original popular rock star and the highest-selling record artist of his time, also known as the “Elvis Presley of Punjab.”
