This journey has taken six years, but Jamie, Nina, and Alex (Bernstein’s children) for letting me into their family and heart and continuing to walk with me through all of this. I will be forever grateful to you. Bringing this story to life has been one of the greatest joys of my career. To prepare for his role, Cooper also immersed himself in the world of orchestras, attending sessions with such notable conductors as Gustavo Dudame, Michael Tilson Thomas, and Nézet-Séguin.

The film and Bradley’s performance as Bernstein have been highly praised. Cooper rehearsed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic as well as the Berlin Philharmonic under the guidance of Gustavo Dudame, performing Mahler’s Revival Symphony. This is the same piece that Bradley performs in the film’s finale. This soul-stirring scene has been highly praised by audiences around the world.
