Arshad Warsi: From an orphan at 14 to a successful Bollywood actor

Arshad Warsi started his showbiz career as a dancer and choreographer only to emerge into a successful performer known for his impeccable comic timing as well as serious roles. From being orphaned at 14, to struggling to make ends meet, discovering a love for dance and finding his groove as an actor, his life is the perfect example of an inspirational story. Arshad Warsi was born in Mumbai on April 19, 1968. He was just 14 when he became an orphan and was forced to support himself. Arshad was schooled at Barnes School in Deolali, Nashik but dropped out after Std X. The multi-faceted actor was a national level gymnast during his school days. Arshad Warsi was forced to work as a door-to-door cosmetics salesman due to financial struggles at age 17. He worked in a photo lab following that. Arshad Warsi developed a keen interest in dancing and received an offer to join Akbar Sami’s Dance group. This eventually opened doors for Arshad to get into choreographing career, which he did for films like Thikana and Kaash.

Arshad Warsi won an Indian dance competition in 1991. At age 21, he was awarded the fourth prize in the Modern Jazz category in the 1992 World Dance championship, London. Arshad Warsi followed this up by opening his own dance studio titled Awesome and went on to form his own dance troupe.
