Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukerji’s black film makes OTT debut

Celebrating the 19th anniversary, Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukerjihighly acclaimed movies black It made its OTT debut on Netflix.

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film also stars Ayesha Kapoor, Shernaz Patel and Dhritiman Chatterjee in supporting roles. Applause Entertainment and SLB Films produced the film. Black tells the story of Michelle, a deaf and blind woman, and her relationship with her teacher, Debraj. Devraj is an alcoholic elderly teacher who later develops Alzheimer’s disease. It was released in theaters on February 4, 2005.

The film’s story is inspired by the life of activist Helen Keller and her 1903 autobiography, The Story of My Life. Black grossed $15.1 million, making it her eighth highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2005.

Black Movie is streaming on Netflix

On Sunday, February 4, 2024, Black celebrated 19 years since its first release. To commemorate this milestone, Netflix announced the film’s first ever digital release. Amitabh Bachchan also shared the exciting news on social media.

The OTT platform made the announcement by sharing a heartbreaking clip from the film on social media. Black has received critical acclaim for its compelling story, great performances, meticulous direction, and moving dialogue. Amitabh Bachchan’s performance in this film also won him the prestigious National Award for Best Actor.

In a statement, Rani Mukerji expressed excitement over the film’s release anniversary and digital release. She said, “Black people have had a deep impact on my life as an actor and as an individual.
