Aamir Khan has recently been trying out various genres other than romance. At a recent News-18 conference, when asked if he would venture into this genre of films, he replied: (Also read: Laapataa Ladies’ Song Doubtwa: A glimpse of director Kiran Rao’s first single ‘The Lost Bride’)

“I wish it was appropriate for my age.”

Aamir Khan says he wants to explore all genres

When asked if he would do another romantic film, Aamir said, “Agar’s romantic Kahani Hogi Toh Zalur. Age is my romance and rare Hota Hai. Kahani Ke Hisaab Se Agar Main Character Suits Kalunga Toh Kyun Nahi Karna Chahunga? (If there’s a romantic film I can do, of course. It’s a bit unusual to explore romance at my age. If I fit the character and the story, then why not?)”

He also added that it was important to him that the role suited his age. “Har genre karuna chahunga. Age appropriate hona chahunga. Suddenly main 18 ho gaya ho nahi karuna chahunga. (We want to explore every genre of film. But it is important to suit the age of the characters) “If there was a role that suddenly required me to look like an 18-year-old, I wouldn’t want to do it.”

Future work

Aamir seems to be taking a break from acting in films as his 2022 film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ did not perform well at the box office and did not receive the response he had hoped for. The film, which also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan, was a Hindi remake of Forrest Gump. He is currently producing the film ‘Laapataa Ladies’ which is directed by his ex-wife Kiran Rao.

The makers recently released the trailer of the film and the first single titled ‘Doubtwa on Monday’. In the trailer, a cynical police officer played by Ravi Kishan is seen perplexed by a case involving a missing bride. This is a song that Dautois showed to him in pursuit of a woman he suspected to be his “lost bride.”

Laapataa Ladies stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Ravi and Chhaya Kadam in lead roles and is based on the award-winning novel by Biplab Goswami. Aamir produced the film, which was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last year. The film is scheduled to be released on March 1st.
