Marvel Studios’ “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” star Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization. The teaser of the movie was released by Marvel on the occasion of star Simu Liu’s birthday, also giving a sneak peek into the film’s villains, Razor Fist and Death Dealer. The movie’s production was wrapped on December 10 last year after several COVID-19 pandemic delays. Its original release was given out as May 7, 2021, but it took a halt in mid-march last year.
Who is Shang-Chi?
The character, a master of unarmed combat, first appeared in Marvel comics in 1973, when the ABC TV drama Kung Fu, starring David Carradine, was popular. Shang-Chi was born the son of supervillain Fu Manchu, but later opposed his father’s ways. In 2013, he joined The Avengers. He’s also been affiliated with the Heroes for Hire, but is often simply a lone-wolf character.
His main power wasn’t really a traditional superpower. Instead, he had the ability to master forms of combat, earning the nickname the Master of Kung Fu. Although in later years, he did gain the power to replicate himself, which could come in handy.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will open in theaters Sept. 3 and run there exclusively for 45 days. So if you want to watch the film at home, you’ll need to wait until its run in theaters is over, when it will become available on Disney Plus. That means a mid-October home release.
This may disappoint some viewers who aren’t willing to go back to movie theaters with the coronavirus delta variant surging. Black Widow, which came out in July, was available not just in cinemas, but on Disney Plus if subscribers were willing to fork over a premium fee of in addition to their subscription cost. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings isn’t offering that at-home option right away.

Recording for the film’s score, composed by Joel P. West, began at Abbey Road Studios in London by June 2021. West scored Cretton’s four previous films. Two singles from the film’s soundtrack, “Lazy Susan” by 21 Savage and Rich Brian (featuring Warren Hue and Masiwei) and “Every Summertime” by Niki, were released on August 10, 2021 by Marvel Music, Hollywood Records, and Interscope Records. A third single from the soundtrack, “Run It” by DJ Snake, Rick Ross, and Brian, was featured in a promotional spot for the film on August 12, and was released the following day. The track will also be used as “the anthem” for ESPN’s 2021-2022 college football coverage. A fourth single titled “In the Dark” by Swae Lee and featuring Jhené Aiko was released on August 20. The full soundtrack album will be released on September 3, and will also include songs by JJ Lin, Saweetie, and Anderson Paak.

Deadline Hollywood projects the film to gross around $45 million domestically over its four-day Labor Day opening weekend, which would be a record for the weekend.
